Kelpie Favorite Fish — What to Serve in Scale the Depths

Kelpie appears in Loch Ness and pays a favorite tip for Arctic Char. Arctic Char is Kelpie's signature — no other customer treats it as a favorite, so any Arctic Char you land has exactly one ideal buyer.

There are two versions of Kelpie. The base pays up to 500 (400 base + 100 tip); the rarer variant pays up to 660, a 160-coin jump for the same fish. A variant of Kelpie is always worth serving over the base when both are on screen — same catch, bigger payout.

Keep European Grayling and Eurasian Minnow and European Smelt away from Kelpie — those are the fish that lower its payout. Everything else is fair game as long as it fills the hunger of 650.

Arctic Char is caught in Loch Ness — the same world where you meet Kelpie, so you can serve it fresh without backtracking. It has 60 health and a feed value of 160. Scale it cleanly to clear Kelpie’s favorite threshold and bank the 100-coin tip.

The Kelpie is a water spirit from Scottish folklore said to inhabit rivers and deep lochs. It is most often described as a powerful water horse, though stories claim is can also take the form of a human. Kelpies are considered dangerous spirits, and their stories were often told as warnings, reminding children not to wander too close to the water. One tale tells of a member of the MacGregor clan who confronted a kelpie with a massive zweihander and managed to seize its enchanted bridle, ending the creature's threat to the surrounding waters. Kelpie legends remain part of Scottish culture, even inspiring the towering steel sculptures known as The Kelpies in Falkirk.
