The hawksbill sea turtle is a tropical sea turtle found in warm oceans around the world, particularly around coral reefs, where it searches for food. It is easily recognized by its sharp, curved beak, the saw-like edges of its shell, and the striking pattern on its amber shell marked with streaks of dark brown and black. Hawksbill turtles can grow to over 100 kilograms in weight. One of the hawksbill's most unusual traits is that it is biofluorescent, glowing faintly under certain wavelengths of light. It is the first reptile ever recorded to possess this rare characteristic.
