The bottlenose dolphin is one of the most recognizable dolphins in the world, found in oceans almost everywhere except the Arctic and Antarctic regions. These intelligent marine mammals can grow up to 4 metres in length and usually weigh around 300 kilograms, with lifespans that can reach about 40 years. Bottlenose dolphins are known for their remarkable intelligence and complex communication. They use a wide range of whistles and clicks to communicate and have euen been obserued using tools, sometimes placing marine sponges over their snouts while searching for food on the seafloor. They are also highly playful animals. In some rare observations, dolphins have been seen passing pufferfish between one another after provoking the fish to inflate, possibly using the small amount of toxin released as a mild intoxicant.
